Is Kyrie Irving Planning to Leave the Celtics?
The Boston Celtics are worried that Kyrie Irving will leave instead of resign with them. Should the Celtics be worried?
HBO’s “The Shop” debuted last night and let me tell you, it was pretty interesting.
The point of the program is to show unfiltered conversation between athletes, musicians and comedians that centers around fame, culture and their lives.
Did I say unfiltered? Because this was the first time I heard LeBron James use “bad words,” so that was interesting to get over.
There were many quotes in the first episode that could have been turned into stories, from Odell Beckham Jr. comparing his life to a caged animal at the zoo to Draymond Green’s analysis on why LeBron is great; but one part that really stood out to me was where LeBron claimed that he has found his second wind.
After 15 seasons, eight straight NBA Finals, four NBA MVP's and multiple other accolades, how does LeBron stay motivated? He's achieved basically everything he's wanted to, what else is there that could set a fire under the world's greatest athlete?
Well on Tuesday night, he explained where he found his new motivation:
It’s not burning like (it was) 10 years ago here (points to body) but right here it is (points to head) I know exactly what the f--k I need to do. I know how to do it and I know how to get the best out of myself. I don’t need you to push me. Once it gets to a point where you still need people to push you at a certain age, then you don’t need to be doing it no more.
OK, a good mindset is powerful, but what bolstered that?
What helps is my f-----g kids playing. Watching my boys play ball … last year was the first time where I really had some time to watch them play in the summer, like really sit down, went to like four or five tournaments, and I’m sitting there, and I’m watching the game and I’m feeling my m-----------g hands just start sweating, I’m feeling like my chest start sweating, and I’m like 'these are 13, 10-year old’s hooping out here why are you feeling like this?'
LeBron explains how we went from sitting in the stands, to standing up, to getting on the bench to getting into an argument with an “AAU mom” over his son's game.
Watching his kids play, experiencing the game from a different angle, made LeBron feel ready to play again.
For Lakers fans, this has to be exciting.
Even though LeBron is the best player in the world, 15 years in the league has to take a toll on an athlete one way or another. He has a new city, a new team and a new energy; that makes it seem like the Lakers can achieve more in their first season than most think they can.
