Season Preview: Denver Nuggets
Quietly, the Denver Nuggets have turned into an offensive juggernaut led by a budding superstar in center Nikola Jokic.
With the Cleveland Browns down 14-0 in the second-quarter and the fans chanting we want Baker, it didn't seem like they were going to get their wish until quarterback Tyrod Taylor received a concussion. Taylor completed four passes on 14 attempts for 19 yards. He also rushed for 22 yards on four carries.
Baker Mayfield came in the game with under two minutes to go in the first-half and the crowd was buzzing. Mayfield gave them a major spark, but running back Carlos Hyde scored the game-winning one-yard touchdown with 2:04 remaining to lift the Browns to a 21-17 victory.
This is the first time in 635 days the Cleveland Browns won a game. The last time they won a game was on December 24, 2016, against the San Diego Chargers at home. Hyde finished with 98 rushing yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns. Mayfield completed 17-of-23 passes for 201 yards. He rushed for negative two yards on two carries. Mayfield also caught a two-point conversion in the third-quarter.
Isaiah Crowell scored two rushing touchdowns in the second-quarter for the New York Jets. He rushed for 34 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns. He also caught two passes for 17 yards receiving. Bilal Powell was the Jets leading rusher with 73 yards on 14 carries.
Sam Darnold had a rough game for the New York Jets. He completed 15-of-31 passes for 169 yards and threw two interceptions. Quincy Enunwa was the Jets leading receiver with four receptions for 57 yards receiving.
With the Browns trailing 14-6 in the third, Carlos Hyde scored on a 2-yard touchdown run in the third-quarter. Cleveland originally failed the two-point conversion, but offsetting penalties allowed the Browns another chance to convert a two-point conversion. They pulled off a tricky play and wide receiver Jarvis Landry completed a pass to Baker Mayfield. Landry was the Browns leading receiver with six receptions for 103 yards receiving.
Jason Myers made a 28-yard field goal for the New York Jets with 8:58 remaining in the game and the rest was history.
Cleveland Browns kicker Greg Joseph made a 45-yard field goal and a 27-yard field goal. He was signed this week after the Browns released kicker Zane Gonzales.
Head Coach Hue Jackson should have an easy decision to make in who will be the Browns starting quarterback in Week 4.
The New York Jets (1-2) will host the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-0) next Sunday. The Cleveland Browns (1-1-1) will travel to face the Oakland Raiders (0-2) next Sunday.
