Kevin Durant May Leave Warriors After Clash With Draymond Green
The Golden State Warriors are having an identity crisis after Kevin Durant and Draymond Green got into a heated argument during the last few second of a game.
The Chicago Cubs used to have one of the best farm systems in all of baseball. That is why they won the 2016 World Series against the Cleveland Indians and that is also why the Chicago Cubs have made it to the postseason for the past three years. The Cubs record so far in 2018 is 29-25. They are currently 3.5 games back of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Chicago is just 0.5 games back of the Philadelphia Phillies for the second wild card spot in the National League. The Cubs still have good enough prospects in their farm system that they could give up in order to get maybe another starting pitcher or another position player like third baseman/shortstop Manny Machado from the Baltimore Orioles.
The top ranked prospect in the Chicago Cubs farm system is right-handed pitcher Adbert Alzolay. He is projected to be in the major leagues sometime this season. Alzolay is currently playing with the Iowa Cubs (Triple-A). His record is 2-4 with a 4.76 ERA. In 39.2 innings pitched, Alzolay has given up 43 hits and 21 runs. He has walked 13 batters and struck out 27. Alzolay can be wild at times. He has a very good fastball which reaches the high 90's, but Alzolay doesn't have a very good second pitch. If he ever finds a consistent second pitch, Alzolay will be a very good starting pitcher in the MLB.
Shortstop Aramis Ademan is the second ranked prospect in the Chicago Cubs farm system. If the Cubs are going to get Manny Machado by the trade deadline, I am sure Ademan would be one of those prospects given up. Ademan may not even have a future in Chicago anyways because Addison Russell is currently the Cubs shortstop. Ademan isn't projected to reach the majors until 2020. He is going to be a starting shortstop one day at the major league level. Ademan is currently playing with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Single-A). He has a .226 batting average with one homerun and 16 RBI's, along with three stolen bases. Ademan also has a very good eye at the plate and he has a .314 on-base percentage.
The third ranked prospect in Chicago's farm system is right-handed pitcher Oscar De La Cruz. He is currently playing in Double-A with the Tennessee Smokies. De La Cruz has a 5-5 record with a 4.99 ERA. In 48.2 innings pitched, he has given up 48 hits and 27 runs. De La Cruz has given up 19 walks and 50 strikeouts. He has a very good fastball and changeup. His curve ball will either be his make it or break it pitch. De La Cruz has the potential to be a top-3 starter at the MLB level and he is projected to reach the MLB level in 2019.
Right-handed pitcher Alex Lange is the fifth best prospect in the Cubs farm system. He is projected to reach the majors in 2019. Lange is currently playing in Single-A with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. His record is 2-2 with a 3.64 ERA. He has pitched in 42 innings and gave up 39 hits and 19 runs. Lange has given up eight walks and 36 strikeouts. He has the potential to be an end of the rotation starter or a mid-reliever at the MLB level. Lange doesn't walk a lot of batters, which is something important that scouts look at.
Left-handed pitcher Brendon Little is the sixth best prospect in Chicago's farm system. He is projected to reach the majors in 2020. Little is currently playing with the South Bend Cubs in Single-A. He has a 2-4 record with a 5.40 ERA. In 41.2 innings pitched, Little has given up 43 hits and 28 runs. He has walked 19 batters and struck out 37. Little has control issues and does get into the jams a lot. He has the potential to have three very good pitches at the MLB level and Little could either be a starter or a closer, depending on how he develops in the minor leagues.
Miguel Amaya is a catcher/first baseman who is currently ranked 10th in the Cubs farm system. He is a very versatile player. Wilson Contreras and Chris Gimenez are the current catchers on Chicago's roster. Amaya won't play first base because of Anthony Rizzo. Having him around would give Rizzo some rest. Amaya isn't projected to reach the majors until 2021, but he could be up sooner. Amaya is currently playing with the South Bend Cubs. He could be the starting catcher one day in Chicago. Amaya has a .276 batting average with six homeruns and 22 RBI's. He also has a good eye at the plate. His on-base percentage is .362. Amaya has also the potential to be a serious threat at the plate for years to come.
The 17th ranked prospect in Chicago's farm system is right-handed pitcher Erich Uelmen. He is projected to reach the majors in 2020 and Uelmen is currently playing for the South Ben Cubs. His record is 3-4 with a 4.62 ERA. In 37 innings pitched, he has given up 38 hits and 19 runs. Uelmen gave up 13 walks and 37 batters. Uelmen will either be a low-end starter in the majors or be a mid-reliever if he reaches the MLB level.
