When you think of colors on the 4th of July, red, white and blue are the first to come to mind. Cleveland Cavaliers rookie Collin Sexton had another color dancing in his head on Independence Day 2018, green as in money.
The eighth overall pick in last month's NBA Draft signed his rookie contract on America's birthday. Sexton gets a four-year deal worth as much as $20.2 million according to Joe Vardon of cleveland.com.
The signing of Sexton heals some of the wound suffered with the loss of LeBron James to the Los Angeles Lakers to begin the month.
The 19-year old point guard from Alabama will be a key part of the Cavaliers rebuilding process. Cleveland fans will get their first look at their newest addition on Friday night. The Cavaliers open up summer league play in Las Vegas against the Washington Wizards.
Sexton averaged 19 points and helped lead the Crimson Tide to the NCAA Tournament in his only season at Alabama.
