The new look Toronto Raptors are dangerous
Don't sleep on Toronto.
Devin Booker was the 13th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns. He was projected to be more of a project because Booker went to the University of Kentucky and his team was loaded with NBA talent. Because of his hard work at the NBA level so far, Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns agreed to a five-year $158 million, Max Contract Extension.
Booker is just 21 years old and he is one of the best shooting guards in the NBA. He is an excellent two-way player and Booker is a big part of the rebuild in Phoenix. In 54 games last season, he averaged 24.9 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 4.7 APG, 0.3 BPG, and 0.9 SPG. He was snubbed of being in the All-Star Game last season.
Devin Booker shot 38.3 percent from three and 87.8 percent from the free throw line during the 2017-2018 season. This deal was an easy decision for the Phoenix Suns. If they didn't get this done now, it is quite possible Booker could have asked for more money and possibly leave Phoenix after next season, but they don't have to worry about that now. Many NBA teams would have made offers for Booker if he became a free agent next summer.
What this means for the Phoenix Suns going forward is that they hope Devin Booker will be playing for the Phoenix Suns for his entire career. They hope Booker is a part of a championship contending team in the near future because he is currently the Phoenix Suns best player. It also means that they will have high expectations considering what other core players they have around him and he gives them a glimpse of hope.
They have a couple of other potential all-star players on the roster like Josh Jackson, DeAndre Ayton, and T.J. Warren. They will be the core players on this roster. It is quite possible Devin Booker leads the Phoenix Suns to an NBA championship, which is something they have never done in franchise history.
Other than Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves who was the number one overall pick, Devin Booker has been the second best player from the University of Kentucky in the 2015 NBA Draft Class.
It is quite possible the Phoenix Suns get back to the playoffs either this season or next season. They haven't been there since the 2009-2010 season. This team has a bright future ahead.
