Is It Time to Consider the Chicago Bears as Favorites in the NFC North?

The Chicago Bears have not been to the postseason since the 2010 regular season and the 2011 postseason. They won the NFC North that season. Chicago has not been in the postseason ever since. The Bears dominated the Buffalo Bills on the road today 41-9.

They scored a couple of offensive and defensive touchdowns. The Chicago Bears have a 5-3 record so far this season and they currently lead the NFC North over the 5-3-1 Minnesota Vikings.

Matt Nagy is in his first season as Chicago Bears head coach. He was the Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator last season. The Bears are buying into his system.

Nagy has fixed up quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. He has completed 64.2 percent of his passes for 1,949 yards 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions so far this season.

Tarik Cohen and Jordan Howard has been a good combination in the backfield. They have a good receiving core. Trey Burton has been a nice weapon for Trubisky at tight end so far this season. He has 29 catches for 371 yards receiving and five touchdowns.

Chicago has one of the best defenses in the NFL thanks to Khalil Mack. He has missed the last two games with an injury, but the Bears defense has not missed a beat without him.

The Chicago Bears will host the Detroit Lions (3-5) next Sunday. After that, they will then host the Minnesota Vikings. The final six games for Chicago will be against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving, the New York Giants, the Los Angeles Rams, the Green Bay Packers, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Minnesota Vikings on the road in Week 17.

That game in Week 17 in Minnesota could decide the NFC North crown. It is possible both of those teams could be in a playoff spot though.

The Minnesota Vikings remain schedule after the Chicago Bears game is against the Green Bay Packers, the New England Patriots, the Seattle Seahawks, the Miami Dolphins, and the Detroit Lions before the Week 17 match up against Chicago.

The Chicago Bears should be the favorites to win the NFC North with their schedule down the stretch, but the Minnesota Vikings won the division last season and they shouldn't be counted out to repeat as division champions.
