Is Kyrie Irving Planning to Leave the Celtics?
The Boston Celtics are worried that Kyrie Irving will leave instead of resign with them. Should the Celtics be worried?
When the game was tied at 20 in the fourth-quarter between the Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints, the New Orleans Saints attempted a third-and-10 play from the Rams 13-yard line with under two minutes remaining in regulation. Drew Brees threw a pass intended for TommyLee Lewis and defensive back Nickell Robey-Coleman never turned around and it was clearly obvious, but the refs thought otherwise.
Had the refs called the penalty, it would have been an automatic first down for the Saints and they would have chewed off more clock and they would have most likely won the game on a field goal.
Instead of that, New Orleans kicked a field goal on the next play. The Rams eventually drove down the field and made a field goal to send the game into overtime. Los Angeles picked off Drew Brees in overtime. Greg Zuerlien drilled a 57-yard field goal to send the Los Angeles Rams to the Super Bowl. Is it time for the NFL to allow coaches to challenge all penalties?
The NFL may has no choice but to do that. Teams are sick and tired about hearing missed calls that will not matter after the game is over. NFL ratings are already down and might continue to drop because of the officiating.
The CFL allows teams to challenge penalties. It might take longer for a game to end, but this could be better for the NFL in the long run. The NFL penalties that could be challenged by NFL teams is for 12-men on the field and if the quarterback threw the ball over the line of scrimmage or not.
Do you want to know what's a bad look for the NFL? Rams running back Todd Gurley shared an NFL Meme on his Instagram Page of him and a referee exchanging jerseys. Robey-Coleman also admitted he committed the penalty and he knew he got away with it.
Even though the Rams won this game, they might have done the NFL a big favor because questionable pass interference calls in the future will be challenged by head coaches. When they decided to it, coaches should also have an extra challenge as well. The NFL should also consider hiring full time refs.
