John Wall's Contract is Scaring Teams Away

John Wall and the entire Washington Wizards' team is available for trade but that doesn't mean every player will be traded. Wall's contract is scaring other teams away. Will Wall remain a Wizard or will another team make a trade for him?

What really is scaring teams is that Wall's contract extension doesn't kick in until next season. That means that they'll have to pay him the $169.3 million that he will be owed. That is a lot of money and I can't see any team wanting to take on a contract as big as that.

There are a bunch of huge contracts in the league that are also intimidating to teams but those players will almost never be on the trade market. The reason teams pay that much money for a player is that they want him to remain with them.

This puts the Wizards in a weird predicament because it means that they'll have to keep Wall on the team. And they won't be benching him either because he is still a great player. Even if he wasn't playing well, benching a player that makes over $40 million a year is mind baffling.

If Wall's contract was a little smaller and not in its beginning stages, teams would have jumped through hoops to acquire Wall. He was one of the top five point guards in the league just a few years ago. Now, he is in the top ten but his lack of wins has hurt his reputation as one of the best point guards in the league.

Trading Wall will be weird because even if a team is willing to trade for him, they will not give up much in return. Taking his contract will be the main part of the deal. Going forward, this contract scenario will make teams think twice before offering a really big contract to a player.

What is crazy about the Washington Wizards is that they will get a great player in next year's NBA Draft and if Wall is still on the team, they will improve fast. It will also depend on who is still on the team but the Wizards will get right back up because of Wall's contract.
