It's time for Portland to rebuild
Hello darkness my old friend...
NFL scouts will descend on College Station, Texas on Tuesday for Texas A&M's Pro Day, with wide receiver Christian Kirk and safety Armani Watts as the most notable draft prospects.
But the school released the list of 14 prospects who will participate on Tuesday, and an invite from head coach Jimbo Fisher was notable.
You're not seeing things, the second and last name under “Post-Graduates” is Johnny Manziel. The former Texas A&M star threw at the University of San Diego's Pro Day last week, in front of 13 (or 14, based on certain reports) NFL teams. But all 32 squads will have someone at Texas A&M on Tuesday.
Manziel has been captured working out off and on in recent months. but he hasn't played in the NFL or anywhere else since the 2015 season. The CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats hold his negotiating rights in that league, and Manziel is still set to play in an upcoming spring league. But if his off-field trouble is truly behind him, as a married man now, the dearth of good quarterbacks in the league could bring a second chance in the NFL.
Manziel's own Pro Day at Texas A&M back in 2014 was a sideshow more than a workout. He wore a helmet and full shoulder pads in front of 100s of spectators, including former president George H.W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush. He'll get plenty of attention this time around too, though potential first-round pick Kirk should still be the primary draw on the receiving end of Manziel's throws.
