The Knicks Aren't Interested in Jimmy Butler
One of Jimmy Butler's destinations is the New York Knicks but the feeling may not be mutual.
Kevin Durant will be the reason the Rockets lose this series. If Game 1 proved anything it was that there is no one on the Rockets who can guard or even slow down the scoring machine that is Kevin Durant. The fact no one can stop is something Durant knows and I'm sure it's already in the mind of the entire Rockets team. There is no combination of Chris Paul, PJ Tucker, James Harden, Trevor Ariza or Luc Mbah a Moute that works. As far as I'm concerned, this series will be won because of Kevin Durant plays.
Durant put up 17 points in the first half on 8 of 12 shooting, which is insane to begin with. In the first half there was times where CP3 tried to be physical with him out on the three point line, but that didn't work at all. Heck, I'm pretty sure the 6' 10” Durant didn't even see Chris Paul there. Harden was on Durant at times and well, that's going to work as well as you'd imagine. James Harden is not a defensive minded player so the fact he even contested some shots is surprising to me. Trevor Ariza spent a chunk of the game in foul trouble, PJ Tucker isn't fast enough to keep up with Durant, Clint Capella tried his best, and Mbah a Moute just wasn't enough.
The third quarter was a Durant scoring clinic where Durant added 13 points on 5 of 11 shooting. Durant's explosion helped put the game out of reach for Houston. He finished with 37 points on 14 of 27 shooting. The most worrying stat if you're a Rockets fan? Durant's iso game is as good as its ever been and he used his hot hand to his advantage.
Kevin is the ultimate luxury because a play can break down and you just throw him the ball and he can get you a bucket as well as anybody on Earth
Steve Kerr summed it up in the above quote, Kevin Durant is the ultimate luxury for him. Kerr knows it, Durant knows it, the entire Warriors team knows it and the NBA knows it. If I'm the Rockets and coach D'antoni, I'm trying to figure some magical way to slow him down even one notch. The game last night did show the Rockets can hang with the Warriors offensively, but on the other end of the court there needs to be significant change. The problem Mike D'antoni will face is that the Warriors won't always need an amazing game from Durant to win, they still have Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
