Markelle Fultz's jumper is progressing but still not there
Update: We have a working jump shot!
Just a few years ago, the New York Knicks were known to draft bad picks in the NBA Draft. Now, they are hitting the jackpot with their draft picks and have made their future look bright as a result.
Rigth off the bat, Kevin Knox is the player I am talking about. He has had a great Summer League performance. He has shown how great he can be in a few years. In the fast break, he is a force to be reckoned with and he knows how to get to the paint. If he develops his three point shot, he can be a great player for years to come.
It is amazing to see the Knicks draft a great player with the 9th overall pick. He was a steal in the draft and the Knicks will be rewarded down the line. The main reason I believe the Knicks drafted him was to make him play alongside Kristaps Porzingis, the 4th overall pick from the 2015 NBA Draft.
Porzingis may be the first pick of the new New York Knicks. Phil Jackson made a lot of mistakes including drafting Frank Ntilikina in last year’s NBA Draft. He is a great defensive player but offensively, he is hesitant and not the best shooter. If he develops his game, he can become a vital part of the team but until then, he is better off coming the bench for them.
Making sure Porinzis is a Knick for the long term is the Knicks main goal. They haven’t been able to keep him happy because they have been losing a lot. It appears as if next season will also be another losing season. Will Porzingis still want to stay knowing the Knicks may be bad for the foreseeable future?
Those three players can give the Knicks great length and defensive. That seems to be the foundation on which the Knicks are building their team on. I am all for it because defensive minded teams win championships. It’s just weird to think that the Knicks will be a defensive team because that isn’t what they are known for. But anything is possible for the newer generation of the New York Knicks.
