Knicks Sign Rookie-Standout Allonzo Trier to a Two-Year Contract

Rookie Allonzo Trier has been rewarded for his stellar play this year by the New York Knicks with a two-year, $7 million contract according to ESPN.

Trier has shined this year and has become a great isolation player which earned him the nickname Iso Zo. From playing in the G League to becoming a full-time NBA player, Trier has beaten the odds.

The Knicks had to decide if they wanted to keep Trier on the roster or let him go back to the G League. His 45 day contract was about to expire soon. To make room for Trier, the Knicks released guard Ron Baker.

This season, Trier is averaging 11.3 points per game in 23.3 minutes per game. He is also shooting over 39 percent from the three-point line. Numbers like that from a G League player is a steal and the Knicks made sure that he will be sticking around for a few years.

As of right now, this contract isn't going to turn heads. The Knicks are out of the playoff picture and are most likely going to miss the playoffs this year. But the Knicks want to keep Trier around and see how he develops.

G league players have been breaking into the NBA and Trier is the latest success story. Getting drafted is awesome and all but it isn't the only way to get into the NBA. Hard work and dedication in the G League will pay off as we have seen.
