It's time for Portland to rebuild
Hello darkness my old friend...
As the 27th pick in the 2017 draft, Kyle Kuzma has put himself in the conversation for rookie of the year and steal of the draft. The Lakers are currently sitting in the 11th seed with a 34-44 record and Kuzma has been an important player all season.
Kuzma's stats this season are 16.3 points per game, 6.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.4 blocks, 0.6 steals, and 1.8 turnovers. His numbers have him second in scoring, fifth in rebounds, tied for 12th in rebounds, 18th in steals, 14th in blocks, and 4th in minutes played by rookies this season. His numbers this season makes Kuzma the best Lakers rookie since Magic Johnson.
Kyle Kuzma's stats should get him plenty of votes for rookie of the year award. In the final four games of the season Kuzma can help position himself to steal the award from favorite Ben Simmons. Kuzma who entered the season with no hype or chance at the award has become a favorite.
Kuzma's performance should be the most important reason for him to get votes for rookie of the year. Yet the big problem he will face with voters is his teams losing record. Its a shame that Kuzma's excellent season will be overshadowed by the Lakers losing record and cost him a few first place votes in the rookie of the year award.
With the season coming to an end, Kuzma can use the final games to earn more votes. It will be difficult for Kuzma to win the award as Simmons has been having a great season for the 76ers, but Kuzma will have the best season for a Lakers rookie since Magic Johnson.
If Kuzma does not win the award, he will still be the Lakers rookie of the year. He has become a fan favorite and positioned himself as an important player for the Lakers future. The future is very bright for Kuzma who has shown he can become a star in the league. Many are excited to see how Kuzma grows in the league.
