Is Kyrie Irving Planning to Leave the Celtics?
The Boston Celtics are worried that Kyrie Irving will leave instead of resign with them. Should the Celtics be worried?
LeBron James has decided on his basketball future. The four time NBA Most Valuable Player will join the Los Angeles Lakers. After 15 seasons in the eastern conference, James will spend the next four seasons in the difficult western conference.
The announcement began official around 8 p.m. eastern time on July 1 in a release from James' agent Rich Paul's company Klutch Sports.
LeBron will get the maximum deal he could from the Lakers, $154 million. James could have received $206.75 million over five years if he would have stayed in Cleveland.
LeBron can not sign the deal until July 6 according to NBA rules. This marks the second time James has left the Cleveland Cavaliers as a free agent. James left Cleveland in 2010 and took his talent to South Beach by joining the Miami Heat.
Speculation of this move really took off on Saturday when James and his family flew to Los Angeles from the Caribbean.
While Cavaliers fans should be somewhat disappointed, James did live up to his promise and brought a championship to Cleveland in 2016. Now we'll see if James can bring showtime back to the Lakers.
