NBA Draft rumor roundup

Really Sacramento?

The Sacramento Kings had Lady Luck shine their way and received the number 2 overall pick in the very top heavy 2018 NBA Draft. I wrote earlier that there was no way this organization could screw up this pick, then this report came out. The Kings are not ruling out trading their pick, presumably to trade down a few picks but remain in the lottery and receive another young prospect in return. I…I can't believe this is truly being considered and hope Sacramento stands pat when their team is put on the clock during the draft.

Memphis looks to trade down

This draft is ripe with length and height, something Memphis still has in Marc Gasol. With that, it makes sense that Memphis, with the number 4 overall pick, is looking to bump down a few spots in the draft where they can still get a star wing prospect. Reports are Memphis is eyeing Mikal Bridges and Miles Bridges, but you can throw in Michael Porter Jr. depending where Memphis trades down to. Memphis is set to basically rewrite all mock drafts on draft night and trades like this are what make the draft exciting.

The Knicks are eyeing Trae Young?

Oh boy, this report came out recently from Trae Young's father and I can't help but roll my eyes. If the Knicks were going to draft Trae at number 9 overall, it will add to their huge jam at the guard spot already. With former top pick Frank Ntilikina, former lottery pick Emmanuel Mudiay, Ron Baker (player option), Tim Hardaway Jr, and Courtney Lee all set to return next season, the guard spot is very full for the Knicks already. I don't see how coach Fizdale can carve out enough minutes for Trae Young. Besides their logjam at the guard spots, the Knicks should take a wing player over another guard when it's their time to pick.

The Suns stand pat

The fact Phoenix plans to stand pat with their number 1 overall pick is less of a rumor and more of a given. The Suns have two or three franchise altering players available to them at number 1 overall and should be happy to take any of the three. While teams like Memphis would love to trade up for the Suns' pick, Phoenix shouldn't budge.
