The Christmas Day schedule for the NBA was released on Tuesday despite the rest of the NBA schedule not being released yet. It is one of the couple of days of the season every NBA fan looks forward to. On Christmas Day when usually no is at work, a lot of people usually tune into the game.
As usual there will be once again five match ups this season. The first will one will be the Milwaukee Bucks vs New York Knicks. It will take place at noon on ESPN. The Bucks are a good basketball team and Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the best players in the league. The Knicks usually play on Christmas Day because they are a big market team and they play at the world's most famous arena at Madison Square Arena. It will be a good game, but Giannis might be too much at the end.
The second game will be the Houston Rockets vs Oklahoma City Thunder. It will take place at 3 p.m. on ABC. It will be an interesting game none the less. Carmelo Anthony returns to Oklahoma City as a member of the visiting team. The Rockets have a ton of offense and the Thunder are very good offensively as well. These two teams are underrated defensively. Houston and Oklahoma City might be the second and third best teams in the western conference after the Golden State Warriors. This game will be a coin flip.
The third game will be the Philadelphia 76ers vs Boston Celtics. This was a very good move by the NBA for these two teams to be playing on Christmas Day and it will take place at 5:30 p.m. on ABC. Both of these have the potential to be elite, if they stay healthy. Philadelphia and Boston both have elite players on there respective rosters. The 76ers have Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and possibly Markelle Fultz. The Celtics have Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward, and Jayson Tatum. These two teams played each other in the playoffs last season and the Boston Celtics won the series in five games. This game could be a very big game early on in the season and they could be the top two teams in the east in the standings come this day.
The fourth game of the day will be the Los Angeles Lakers vs Golden State Warriors. This is the match up a lot of people will be looking forward to. It will take place at 8 p.m. on ABC. Lebron James is now with the Los Angeles Lakers and he has a lot of good young players to work with like Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, and Brandon Ingram. The Warriors are the defending back-to-back champions and they have superstars like Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. It is unknown whether or not DeMarcus Cousins will be playing that game because he is still recovering from a torn Achilles injury. This game will most likely be a blowout, but you never know.
The fifth game of the day will be the Portland Trail Blazers vs Utah Jazz.. It will take place at 10:30 p.m. on ESPN. Portland has a very good backcourt in C.J. McCollum and Damian Lillard. Utah has a rising star in Donovan Mitchell. Both teams are well coached. It will be a good game, but it is possible people will be tired out from watching the games all day.
There is one game I would have like to seen on Christmas Day: Toronto Raptors vs San Antonio Spurs. Kawhi Leonard would have been returning to San Antonio for the first time as a member of the visiting team.
