Season Preview: Denver Nuggets
Quietly, the Denver Nuggets have turned into an offensive juggernaut led by a budding superstar in center Nikola Jokic.
Almost everybody agrees that Butler will be leaving the Minnesota Timberwolves. He wants to team up with Kyrie Irving and make his own superteam. That won't help the Timberwolves so they will most likely trade him if he intends to leave.
The real question is when the Wolves will trade Butler. Will they trade him early in the season or wait till the trade deadline? It will depend on a few things like their record and chemistry. If the Wolves start poorly, Bulter will be gone a few weeks after that.
I think this is a great opportunity for the Nuggets. They have a bunch of decent players and giving up one and a draft pick for Butler will be fine. If the player is decent enough, they won't have to get a first round pick. The Nuggets need to play this right.
Last year, the Nuggets missed the playoffs and instead, the Wolves made it. I have the Nuggets making it this year but it will be close so getting Butler will be a good idea. His contract expires after this season but the Nuggets can try to convince him to stay in Denver.
For some reason, I don't think Butler will stay in Denver. It is cold and they aren't going to win a championship anytime soon. Butler wants to win now so he will join another good team or form his own.
To get the most value for Butler, the Wolves should trade him early in the season. Teams will give up more to have him on their roster for longer. Butler is a great player and can make a decent team make the playoffs.
