Oladipo Suffers Knee Injury, Pacers Fear Season-Ending Surgery Likely

The Indiana Pacers are worried that All-Star guard Victor Oladipo suffered a season-ending right knee injury Wednesday night that will require surgery, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The franchise cornerstone, Oladipo will undergo an MRI on Thursday in Indianapolis to fully assess the damage. But Indiana's team officials believe he indeed will miss the remainder of the season after the guard had to be carted off the court on a stretcher.

To compound matters, Indiana can’t attain a Disabled Player Exception because the deadline to apply expired on Jan. 15, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.

The injury came on a play when Oladipo tried to steal a pass that was thrown to Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam. In complete agony after the play, Oladipo was taken off the floor in a stretcher.

The Pacers went on to beat the Raptors 110-106, despite Oladipo exiting the contest in the second quarter. Thaddeus Young led the charge for the Pacers, who improved to 32-15 with the victory. Young registered game-highs in points (23), rebounds (15) and steals (two).

Sitting in third place in the East standings, the Pacers looked like legit contenders for conference supremacy. But losing Oladipo—an All-Star last season—for the year would likely end their chances of making a deep postseason run this spring.
