NBA First Half Awards
With the season just over halfway done, let's look at the major awards. Feel free to disagree but it's James Hardens world right now and we're just living in it.
The Kansas City Chiefs released Kareem Hunt on Friday after a video was found about him abusing a women. The Chiefs started Spencer Ware in the backfield instead. Ware does not possess the same speed as Hunt does. Kareem Hunt was a vital part in the passing game and running game. A lot of people maybe thought it would affect Patrick Mahomes, but it didn't at all against the Oakland Raiders.
This shows what kind of talent Patrick Mahomes is. He is a magician and Mahomes can make any throw. He has thrown 41 touchdown passes this season. Mahomes has also thrown for 3,923 yards. The touchdown passes record for a season is still in reach. Peyton Manning threw 55 touchdowns during the 2013 season.
The final four games of the regular season for the Kansas City Chiefs is against the Baltimore Ravens (7-5) at home, the Los Angeles Chargers (8-3) at home, the Seattle Seahawks (7-5) on the road, and the Oakland Raiders (2-10) on the road.
It is quite possible Patrick Mahomes is pulling away in the MVP race after this weekend. Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints and Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts both didn't have very good weekends.
Drew Brees still has a chance to redeem himself for MVP, but Andrew Luck has a slim chance to redeem himself to be considered for the award.
Patrick Mahomes is only 23 years old. He is playing the game of football like he has been playing it for like five to ten years in the NFL.
