NBA First Half Awards
With the season just over halfway done, let's look at the major awards. Feel free to disagree but it's James Hardens world right now and we're just living in it.
Survivor Series has been one of the biggest pay-per-views WWE has put on for a very long time. We get to see superstars from the Raw brand take on superstars from the SmackDown brand. There are some good matches announced for the show. In my opinion, Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey should main event the PPV. I will predict the results of the match card but of course the match card is subject to change.
Tag Team Champions – AOP (Raw) vs. The Bar (SmackDown)
This will be an interesting match with the young team, the AOP taking on the tag team veterans in The Bar. The Authors of Pain won the Raw Tag Titles on Raw in a handicap match against Seth Rollins because Dean Ambrose turned heel after him and Rollins won the tag titles. The Bar won the SmackDown Tag Titles defeating the New Day with help from the Big Show. I think the veterans will win this match with help from Big Show and defeat the AOP.
Prediction: The Bar wins the match
Midcard Champions – Seth Rollins (Raw, IC) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (SmackDown, U.S.)
This match has the potential to be one of the best of the night. Rollins has cooled off after winning the IC Title again after what was a very impressive 2018 campaign. Nakamura seems to have completely fallen out of WWE sights. He is lost with no real future or feud to look forward to. He is just being thrown in matches with no build. The only way I see Nakamura winning this match is if Ambrose distracts Rollins and Nakamura takes advantage but I think Rollins wins this match either clean or by DQ with Ambrose attacking him.
Prediction: Seth Rollins wins the match
Women's Team Raw vs. Team SmackDown – Alexa Bliss & four TBD (Raw) vs. Charlotte Flair, Carmella, Naomi, Asuka & Sonya Deville (SmackDown)
Alexa Bliss has yet to announce her team but I expect Nia Jax, Tamina, Sasha Banks, and Bayley to join her team and represent Raw. The SmackDown team seems set and is no surprise of the entrants. This should be a good match and will likely come down to the two captains at the end. I see the SmackDown team winning this match as they have the better superstars and Charlote Flair should score the winning pinfall.
Prediction: SmackDown women’s team wins the match
Men's Team Raw vs. Team SmackDown – Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre and two TBD (Raw) vs. Daniel Bryan, The Miz, Shane McMahon, Samoa Joe & Rey Mysterio (SmackDown)
The SmackDown side of things will be very interesting as Daniel Bryan and Miz as co-captains. Their feud was the best feud in the summer and now they will be forced to team up to represent SmackDown. Raw has to still name two superstars. I expect Bobby Lashley to be named as another member of the Raw brand. The Raw team has problems of its own with Strowman not getting along with Corbin, McIntyre and Ziggler. In the end, I think the Raw brand will win this match with Strowman getting the winning pinfall.
Prediction: Raw men’s team wins the match
Women's Champions – Ronda Rousey (Raw) vs. Becky Lynch (SmackDown)
Becky Lynch has been possibly the best thing going on in WWE over the last few months. Her mic skills have been incredible and her ring work is great. The fans absolutely love Lynch and she has been a great champion. She will take on Ronda Rousey as a champion vs champion match at Survivor Series. This match will be a great one as both are terrific in the ring. I do not see WWE having Rousey lose, which will be unfortunate for Lynch as she has been the hottest superstar lately. I think Rousey makes Lynch tap out in a very good match.
Prediction: Ronda Rousey wins the match
Heavyweight Champions –Brock Lesnar (Raw, Universal) vs. AJ Styles (SmackDown, WWE)
In a shocking turn of events, Brock Lesnar won the Universal Title at Crown Jewel, defeating Braun Strowman thanks to Baron Corbin. WWE fans were not happy Lesnar won as most felt Strowman deserved the title and got sick of Lesnar. AJ Styles has been as consistent as they get, defending his title constantly. Even though fans are also sick of Styles as champion, he has been a much better champion than Lesnar. It will be interesting to see if Lesnar takes any bumps in this match as he is supposed to fight in UFC. I do not see WWE have Styles defeat Lesnar as they do not want to make Lesnar look weak. Lesnar will win this match and it could be another squash match if WWE does not want to risk an injury to Lesnar.
Prediction: Brock Lesnar wins the match
