The Chicago Bears fairy tale season will becoming to an end after Cody Parkey missed a field goal late in the game and it resulted in Chicago losing 16-15. Mitchell Trubisky was fantastic during the game and he played well for the most part this season.
The defense played well, but they couldn't make a big stop late. The Bears had one of the best defenses in the NFL this season. Defensive Coordinator Vic Fagino will most likely land a head coaching job somewhere next season. Speaking of head coaching job, Matt Nagy was tremendous in his first season as head coach of this team. They won the NFC North title with a 12-4 record and he should be the favorite to win coach of the year.
With that in mind, what is next for this Chicago Bears team?
This team has a lot in place for them going forward. Chicago doesn't have a lot of weaknesses. They need to find a new kicker for next season. Cody Parkey struggled during the regular season and the Bears decided not to find a new kicker.
On the offensive side of the ball, they could use another wide receiver or offensive lineman. On the defensive side of the ball, Chicago could use another cornerback or linebacker. Trading for Khalil Mack from the Oakland Raiders before the season began was a huge bonus for this football team.
The Chicago Bears will have one of the tougher schedules in the NFL next season. They blew a golden opportunity to make a run in the playoffs this season. The future is very bright in Chicago and they could run this division for the next three to five years easily. The Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions are in turmoil right now. The only team that can challenge the Bears in the division is the Minnesota Vikings.
Chicago will have a few picks in the 2018 NFL Draft. General Manager Ryan Pace has done a very good job drafting recently. He could very well win the executive of the year in the NFL.
