Where Will Carmelo Anthony and Kawhi Leonard End Up This Summer?
The question everyone is asking is where will Carmelo Anthony and Kawhi Leonard end up this summer?
The 2018 free agent class as a whole is not too strong; the small and power forward market is the most talented of the entire class. Here's a breakdown of some of the best and most intriguing forwards set to hit free agency.
While technically not a free agent, I expect Durant to opt out of his player option in favor of either a long term deal or another shorter one with another PO. The NBA world knows Durant isn't going anywhere.
Here we go again, Lebron James is set to hold most of the NBA hostage while he decides where he plays. While again, not technically a free agent, it's widely expected he declines his player option to hit the market. The King is still on top of his game, the question is where he holds his court next.
Quite possibly the second largest domino that needs to fall in free agency, the summer of Paul George is finally arriving. Everyone expects him to opt out of his player option, no one knows where he goes next. PG is still one of the best two way players in the game, everyone is going to want him.
I wrote about the Jabari Parker situation earlier this year and still haven't really figured out what teams should do with him. Parker has looked relatively healthy, but every team should be hesitant to bet on both his knees.
Remember Mario? The former top 5 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft had an okay year but the Magic declined his option. Maybe a team could take a flyer out on him for cheap, but there's always the option of returning overseas.
Another former topic of my past articles, Aaron Gordon is one of the top prizes of the entire free agent class. Though only a restricted free agent, rumors have already swirled that Orlando won't match huge offers for Gordon. Gordon's going to net a heft payday from some team the moment free agency begins.
A walking double-double machine, Randle is kind of the “runner up” prize to the Aaron Gordon sweepstakes. Randle's fit with the Lakers future is unclear as he might be a casualty of top free agent chasing done by LA's front office. I fully expect a young team looking for another piece to pick up Randle once the larger names start to fall.
One of the most interesting players to soon hit free agency, Bjelica is what you want in a modern stretch 4. Having shot 41% from deep this past season, expect him to find a home in the late stages of free agency.
