The Indianapolis Colts Future Looks Bright

The Indianapolis Colts lost to the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday afternoon on the road in the Divisional Round 31-13. After Indianapolis started the season 1-5, not many people expected them to make the playoffs. They won their final nine-out-of-10 games and because of it, the Colts were the number sixth seed in the playoffs.

Indianapolis defeated the Houston Texans in the Wild Card Round 21-7. This team has a bright future ahead of them. I thought they were going to finish in either third or fourth place in the AFC South before the season began, but the Indianapolis Colts are ahead of schedule in their rebuild.

General manager Chris Ballard is one of the reasons why this team is ahead of schedule. They upgraded the offensive line this past offseason. Rookie Quenton Nelson was a pro bowler in his first season. It gave Andrew Luck a ton of protection and there were several games in a row he was not sacked once.

Luck returned to greatness this past season. He looked like the quarterback he was before he got hurt. Andrew Luck made tight end Eric Ebron into a pro bowler this season. Luck should have been named to the Pro Bowl this season.

He was a good match with Head Coach Frank Reich. Reich was one of the reasons why the Colts never gave up this season. He was the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator when they won the Super Bowl.

The Indianapolis Colts were going to hire Josh McDaniels to be the head coach last offseason, but he backed out at the last second. I don't think the Colts would have been good this season with McDaniels around.

The defense was also a lot better this season. Rookie linebacker Darius Leonard led the NFL in tackles this season. This team needs helps in the secondary and on the defensive line.

Indianapolis will have nine picks in the NFL Draft and they will also have a ton of cap space. This is going to be the first offseason in a few years that the Colts and their fan base will be optimistic about the future. Heading into next season, there will be a ton of people picking this team to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.
