Is Kyrie Irving Planning to Leave the Celtics?
The Boston Celtics are worried that Kyrie Irving will leave instead of resign with them. Should the Celtics be worried?
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout is 27 years old and he is currently the best baseball player in the world right now. Trout has two more years left on his contract and he is due to get a contract extension some time soon. The question is does Mike Trout want to spend the rest of his MLB career with the Angels or does he want to be elsewhere?
Everyone is going to talk about Manny Machado and Bryce Harper this offseason, but some teams should make calls to Los Angeles about Trout. Do you want to know one team that should call about him? The Philadelphia Phillies.
Whenever baseball season is not going on, he is usually attending Philadelphia Eagles home games. Mike Trout is from Vineland New Jersey and it is around a 45-minute drive to Philadelphia.
The Phillies would have the space to sign Trout to a big extension. Philadelphia finished the 2017-2018 season with a 80-82 record, but they are closer to becoming a contender than people think. They would also have the room to sign Manny Machado or Bryce Harper.
The Angels should make a trade because they could lose Trout and not get anything at all in return. Los Angeles doesn't have a very good farm system. The Angels have not been to the playoffs since 2014 and they had the roster to make it this season, but they didn't.
Last season, Mike Trout's batting average was .312 with 39 home runs and 79 RBI's, along with 24 stolen bases. His on-base percentage was .460.
The Phillies would probably need to trade four to five prospects for him. The prospects they would probably give up in a trade is #1 prospect Sixto Sanchez (right-handed pitcher), #4 prospect Adam Haseley (outfielder), #7 prospect Jhailyn Ortiz (outfielder), #8 prospect Ranger Suarez (left-handed pitcher), and #29 prospect Nick Maton (shortstop).
Sanchez is projected to reach the majors in 2019. He has the potential to be a number one starter one day. His record last season with the Clearwater Threshers in Advanced A was 4-3 with a 2.51 ERA. In 46.2 innings pitched, he gave up 39 hits and 14 runs. Sixto Sanchez walked 11 batters and struck out 45.
Haseley is projected to reach the majors in 2020. He has the potential to be an everyday outfielder. Adam Haseley played in Advanced A and Double A Reading last season. In 118 games in the minors last season, his batting average was .305 with 11 home runs and 55 RBI's, along with seven stolen bases. Haseley's on-base percentage was .361.
Ortiz is projected to reach the majors in 2021. He has the tools to be an everyday player and Jhailyn Ortiz is only 19 years old. He played last season with the Lakewood BlueClaws in Single A. His batting average was .225 with 13 home runs and 47 RBI's, along with two stolen bases. Ortiz's on-base percentage was .297.
Suarez reached the majors last season but he didn't play many games with them. Ranger Suarez started the regular season with Double A Reading. He then was called up to Triple A Lehigh Valley. In the minors last season, his record was 6-3 with a 2.75 ERA. In 124.1 innings pitched, Suarez gave up 112 hits and 40 runs. He also walked 35 walks and struck out 85. His record with the Philadelphia Phillies last season was 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA. He pitched 15 innings and gave up 21 and 14 runs. Suarez walked six batters and struck out 11.
Maton is projected to reach the majors in 2021. He played with the Lakewood BlueClaws last season. His batting average was .256 with eight home runs and 51 RBI's, along with five stolen bases. Nick Maton's on-base percentage last season was .330. He is a shortstop but Maton could also play second base as well.
