Joel Embiid Should be Considered an MVP Candidate
It is only January and a lot of people are talking about either James Harden or Giannis Antetokounmpo to win the MVP, but what about Joel Embiid?
The Ohio State University has handed down punishment to head football coach Urban Meyer and athletic director Gene Smith Wednesday evening for their involvement in the domestic abuse case involving former wide receivers coach Zach Smith.
Meyer has been on paid administrative leave since August 1 while the university conducted an investigation.
Meyer will serve an unpaid three game suspension. He will miss the fifth ranked Buckeyes first three games of the season, September 1 vs. Oregon State, September 8 vs. Rutgers and September 15 vs. Texas Christian University at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Meyer will be eligible to return to the program on September 2. He will be able to conduct practices as normal starting that day. Meyer can return to the sidelines for the Buckeyes for game four of the season against Tulane on September 22.
Smith will serve an unpaid suspension from August 31 through September 16. The suspensions were handed down after it was determined neither guy took enough action in the alleged abuse case against Smith.
Meyer made over $400,000 during his paid administrative leave. He will lose over $290,000 of his $7.6 million salary during his suspension.
