What's Wrong With Kane?

After coming back from a stellar World Cup, Kane seems to be losing his footing. Five games in and Kane has provided two goals and an assist. This may not seem terrible at all but considering that Kane is a world class player who scored 0.89 goals per game in the Prem last season, he is not living up to his true expectations.

Is something really wrong with Kane or is it just a phase? What can be done to fix this epidemic?

Lack of Hunger

One of the most valued assets of a CF is a passion and hunger for goals. Strikers pride themselves on scoring and look to relish every chance they get. But Kane at times seems lethargic and at times a bit desperate.

Last season Kane averaged 0.89 goals per game last season in the Prem last season. This season- 0.4 goals per game; less than half of last season. Not to mention that the Englishmen has attempted fewer shots (2.4 to 5.43) and take ons (1.0 to 1.42) per game compared to last season.

This lack of product and quality from Kane gives Spurs fans and the neutral a reason to claim that Kane has had a poor start to the season.

Insufficient Rest and Immense Pressure

The evolution of Kane has led him to become a world-class player and a peripheral figure in English football as a whole. But even the greatest of leaders need their rest.

Kane has had an eventful summer playing in the World Cup and the Premier League. He played 573 out of a possible 690 minutes in the World Cup and has only missed two minutes of Premier League action this season. If he was not exhausted by all that then he is miraculously inhuman.

Kane needs to be rested so that he can be at 100% when necessary. And on top of that Kane faces monumental pressure to carry Spurs and the Lions. Being named the captain for your country is an honor like no other, but it can go to your head.

Kane needs to be rested and left alone in order to truly time. Remember Kane is a magnificent player and the complete forward! He will be back to his old self as the season progresses.

How can Spurs lineup without Kane?

Spurs have a massive challenge ahead of them and with Champions League it will not get easier. Spurs are in a tough position as they have just lost two consecutive league games for the first time in over ten years. The Lilywhites play Inter at the San Siro on Tuesday and things could look pretty gruesome if Spurs lose three in a row.

Inter have endured a scrap of a season with one win in their opening four matches. But Inter is not to be underestimated when the Snakes have the likes of Ivan Perisic and Radja Nainggoolan. Inter play short possession football with an emphasis on width and crossing. Perisic is the perfect winger for Inter as he is strong with both feet and can either cut inside or cross effectively. But Inter is weak defensively as they can easily be exposed by the counter.

This is perfect for Spurs as they are a side that can play with and without the ball well. Spurs should play a 3-1-4-2 to nullify Inter's attack in a compact shape while being able to counter in numbers.

Vorm starts in goal with Lloris injured. Vertonghen, Sanchez, and Alderweireld start in defense to be effective in holding possession and being able to play long to the strikers. Victor Wanyama sits above the defense for his physicality and will act as a shield for Spurs. When Spurs are in possession, Wanyama can drop as the CB occasionally to allow Sanchez to step up and play long.

Out wide Davies and Trippier start as wing-backs. Hardworking, but technically skilled this pair will provide Spurs with crucial linkage and width. Davies starts over Rose due to his work rate and duty to keep an eye on Perisic. In the center, Dembele and Eriksen will dribble up and look to break the defense. Dembele will be tasked more defensively while Eriksen will be given the freedom to move into the half space near the eighteen.

And finally, Lucas and Son will play as the strikers who will be crucial on the counter and are responsible for drifting wide to create the intermittent overload. Son will provide a different dynamic from Kane and will finally give Kane a rest so that he can fully recover.
