Who Could Grab Trevor Lawrence in the 2021 NFL Draft?

Clemson freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence torched Alabama's defense in a 44-16 win in the National Championship Game. He completed 20-of-32 passes for 347 yards three touchdowns and one interception. Lawrence made throws in the game like an actual NFL quarterback. His throws were in the right place at the right time.

Trevor Lawrence will not be eligible to go in the NFL Draft until 2021. A lot of people will be hyping him up to be the number one pick for that draft. If that is the case, which team could be in that position in 2021 or which teams could trade up for him?

The first team that comes to mind is the Cincinnati Bengals. They have not been good for the past couple of years and what are the chances they will be good in a couple of years from now anyways? By the time 2021 comes, Andy Dalton will be 33 years old. His contract is up after the 2020 season and it is very possible they wouldn't bring him back, especially if the Bengals had the chance to draft Trevor Lawrence.

The second team that comes to mind is the Tennessee Titans. Marcus Mariota's contract expires after next season, but they could very well give him at least one more season after that he if he stays healthy. If in 2020 Mariota is injured again, then the Titans will need to look elsewhere. Having Trevor Lawrence at quarterback would be huge because of how good Tennessee's defense is.

The third team that comes to mind is the Washington Redskins. Alex Smith's health will be a major question for this football team. He has a potential buyout in his contract before the 2021 season. That would be the smart move for this team by then because Smith will be 36 years old by then. If they are drafting Trevor Lawrence by the time 2021 comes, that means that Bruce Allen and Jay Gruden are out the door.

The fourth team that comes to mind is the Oakland Raiders. Derek Carr will have a chance to prove himself in Jon Gruden's system. If it does not go well in the next couple of years, Oakland could trade him because he will only have one more year left on his contract. Lawrence would be an interesting choice at quarterback for this team though.

The fifth team that comes to mind is the Los Angeles Chargers. The odds are they will be too good to receive the number one pick. Los Angeles would probably have to trade up to draft him. Philip Rivers is 37 years old. He is still playing at a high level and his contract expires after the 2019 season. I think the Chargers would re-sign for at least one year. Could you imagine the Los Angeles Chargers with Lawrence?

The sixth team that comes to mind is the New England Patriots. Tom Brady is 41 years old. His contract is up after next season, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see him return for the 2020 season. New England will look to draft a possible replacement for Brady in either the 2019 or 2020 draft. If they don't do that, the odds are New England won't be bad enough to get the number one pick in the NFL Draft. This franchise would try and find a way to move up in the 2021 NFL Draft to take Trevor Lawrence.
