Is Kyrie Irving Planning to Leave the Celtics?
The Boston Celtics are worried that Kyrie Irving will leave instead of resign with them. Should the Celtics be worried?
There is always controversy regarding the MVP award as a lot of people believe LeBron James keeps getting snubbed as he is still the best player in the world. The MVP award should go to someone who’s team would completely fall apart without them on the team and they need the stats to back them up. Below are some candidates for the award and I will give you who I think should win the award as of now.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has the necessary stats to be the leading candidate for the MVP award and his team is cruising in the Eastern Conference. He is by far the best player on the Bucks and is the main reason for their success this season and he is only 23 years old. If he can improve his 3-point shooting, the sky is the limit for him. If he can build on this success heading towards the all-star break and in the second half of the season, he should be the odds on favorite to win the MVP award.
With Kawhi Leonard missing most of last season, a lot of people seem to have forgotten just how great he is. Toronto currently has the NBA’s third-best offense and sixth-best defense and that is in large part thanks to Leonard. The Raptors are having a great season and have a great chance of making it to the NBA Finals. If Leonard can keep this up and have the Raptors remain as one of the best teams in the NBA, he should be a strong candidate for the MVP award.
The reigning MVP has been on fire lately and carrying the Rockets with Chris Paul sidelined. The Rockets have been climbing in the standings in the West because of Harden’s stellar play. It is difficult for the reigning MVP to win it again but Harden is certainly making a strong case to go back to back. If he can keep this play up and keep the Rockets climbing in the standings, Harden will be a strong candidate to win the MVP award again.
James is obviously a perennial MVP candidate and it doesn’t seem that’s going to change anytime soon. James has made the Lakers a playoff team. He does not seem to be slowing down at all, playing heavy minutes and putting up monster stats. James is really the only star on the Lakers and he is carrying them. If he can keep the Lakers near the top of the West standings and keep those stats up, he will once again make a strong case for the award.
Some other names to consider are Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving, Paul George, Russell Westbrook, and Anthony Davis.
As of right now, my MVP is James Harden. His stats have been outstanding and he has the Rockets near the top of the Western Conference. If the Rockets can finish in the top 3 or 4 in the West and Harden’s play does not fall, he should be the MVP as he is by far the best player on his team. Giannis Antetokounmpo is not far off though and if he can keep this play up and keep the Bucks near the top of the East, he could overtake Harden as the MVP.
Current MVP: James Harden
