Even though the Oklahoma City Thunder have re-signed Paul George earlier in the week, the Thunder announced that they will be moving on from Carmelo Anthony sometime this summer. He will either be traded, waived with a stretch provision, or agreeing to a buyout combined with a stretch provision.

Carmelo Anthony is 34 years old and he averaged 16.2 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 1.3 APG, 0.6 BPG, and 0.6 SPG last season with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was traded from the New York Knicks to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Anthony is on the final year of his contract and he is currently owed $27.928 million for the 2018-2019 season. This is move is a salary dump because they currently have no room in cap space. Since the Thunder are moving on from Carmelo, where will he go?

The first team that comes to mind is the Houston Rockets. Even though they were only win away from the NBA Finals last season and won 65 games in the regular season, the Houston Rockets might need another solid scorer in order to knock off the Golden State Warriors. Houston lost Trevor Ariza to the Phoenix Suns and Anthony would be an upgrade the forward position.

The second team that comes to mind is the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers should only make this move if they don't have to give up anybody. They shouldn't have to risk their future for Carmelo Anthony. The Lakers have young and upcoming players like Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, and Josh Hart. Los Angeles also now has Lebron James on board and Carmelo Anthony is one of Lebron James's best friends. Carmelo Anthony has only been to the Western Conference Finals only once in his career, while Lebron James has been to the NBA Finals for eight straight years. Carmelo Anthony would be another outside shooter for the Lakers.

The third team that comes to mind is the Boston Celtics. General manager Danny Ainge is always looking to make moves. They have players like Gordon Hayward, Al Horford, and Kyrie Irving. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are rising stars in a hurry. The Boston Celtics will be the favorites in the east next season. They are also well coached by Brad Stevens. If they are able to find a way to get Carmelo Anthony, it could put the Boston Celtics over the top in the entire NBA.

The fourth team that comes to mind is the Philadelphia 76ers. Philadelphia has been trying to figure out ways to trade for Kawhi Leonard. The 76ers wouldn't have to take a big risk on Carmelo Anthony. They wouldn't have to give up anybody and it would give them a go two scorer. The addition of Carmelo Anthony would possibly put Philadelphia in better position to knock off Boston in a playoff series.

The fifth team that comes to mind is the Portland Trail Blazers. Other than Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum, they have a bunch of very good role players, but they don't make a big difference. A player like Carmelo Anthony would make a difference to Portland. The Trail Blazers finished with the third best record in the western conference last season, but Portland has been swept away in the playoffs for the past two seasons. Adding Carmelo Anthony would make sure that wouldn't happen. The Portland Trail Blazers would be able to win a playoff series or two. They are well coached by Terry Stotts and the Portland Trail Blazers play very good defense as well.
